Everybody's favorite agitator, Dick Vitale, is taking on the Calipari-hating Twitterverse single-handedly. You go, Dicky V.

Tweets of the Morning:

Preach, Brother Vitale!

Your Quickies:

Kentucky football
  • Garrett Johnson's highlight video - Hat Tip to KSR - this kid is under-rated. [Hank]

[Glenn] Under-rated indeed. He has great hands.

  • Nice interview with Garrett. [Hank]

He posted a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at a Florida State camp in June, but the Seminoles did not offer Johnson that day, likely because it was the same day FSU received a commitment from a similar slot-type receiver in Orlando Lake Nona's Ryan Sosa.

  • The Orlando Sentinel's take on Garrett Johnson. [Hank]

  • Stoops isn't going to muzzle his players' Twitter accounts yet, but it could happen. Twitter education has become a very important part of an NCAA player's orientation.
  • Kyle tucker reports on the Kentucky Women's Football Clinic. I love this idea, and I particularly love how the players embraced it. It was so low-profile last year that I didn't even hear about it, and this year, attendance quintupled over last year.
  • Here's the Herald-Leader's take on the women's clinic from a woman's point of view.
  • More on the epic fail by Colin Cowherd to criticize Mark Stoops' recruiting tactics. I liked this:

Cowherd can mock all he wants but the letter-bombardment seems to be working. The 115 letters that Stoops and his staff sent to QB recruit Drew Barker convinced him to sign with the Wildcats. He just happens to be a 4-star, Elite-11 QB and part of UK's No. 13 ranked recruiting class in ESPN's 2014 class rankings. Not bad for a basketball school.

  • Here's an interesting test for Kentucky. One of UK's recruits who attended the Friday Night Blue Lights camp the other night just drew an offer from THE Ohio St. University.

  • Stoops says team will work "around the clock" to make fans proud.
  • Kentucky is looking better at wide receiver for 2014 and beyond.
  • Ledger-Inquirer writer Ryan Black doesn't think much of Kentucky football. Or Tennessee either, for that matter.

  • John Calipari watched 2015 shooting guard Luke Kennard in Orlando yesterday. Here's some video:

A couple of things I notice: He has a nice release, but it's a little low. His shot does have nice arc, however. Also, he finishes at the rim with both hands. I love to see that in a player.

  • Mike DeCourcy talks Emmanuel Mudiay, and the clearing up of his Prime Prep worries. I love this kid's game, I really think he is perfect for Kentucky. Consider:

Book it now: He will average at least a half-dozen assists per game as a college freshman. Because he stands 6-3, and perhaps because Kentucky’s John Calipari is one of the coaches pursuing him hardest, Mudiay commonly is compared to NBA star Tyreke Evans, who played for Calipari at Memphis.

  • Yes, Coach Cal is recruiting for 2016 already.
