2014 recruiting? Nah. 2015 recruiting? Pffft. We're talking 2016 here, people. In case you're trying to do the math, these kids haven't even finished their freshman year of high school yet. That doesn't mean they're not very talented with the round ball, though.
After news broke that the Kentucky Wildcats had offered 2016 wing Jayson Tatum from St. Louis (MO) Chaminade Prep, another offer from head coach John Calipari has surfaced. According to Sherrell McMillan of Inside Carolina ($), Harry Giles, a power forward from Winston-Salem (NC) Wesleyan Christian also holds a Kentucky offer.
Giles is widely considered the best freshman in the country, and recently received MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors. He already holds offers from schools like the North Carolina Tar Heels, N.C. State Wolfpack, Ohio St. Buckeyes, and others. Additionally, the Duke Blue Devils have been showing a lot of interest in Giles during AAU season.
Just how good is Giles? Here is high praise from ESPN's Dave Telep ($):
If I had one scholarship and could give it to anyone in high school basketball, like Coach K, Roy and Cal, I'd give mine to Giles. Believe that.
