2013 point guard Dominique Hawkins from Richmond (KY) Madison Central will announce his collegiate decision on Wednesday. Buzz Baker of WKYT was the first to break the news, although there had been other sources that stated that Hawkins would announce sometime this week.

Hawkins was slated to speak with Kentucky Wildcats coaches at the end of March and announce a decision soon after. He delayed that decision by a week, citing Madison Central's spring break week as the reason. Hawkins has publicly stated that he is waiting for a scholarship decision from the Kentucky coaching staff before announcing.
All the signs point to Hawkins receiving that coveted offer and becoming a Wildcat. With the departures of backcourt starters Ryan Harrow (transferred to Georgia State) and Archie Goodwin (declared for the NBA Draft), Kentucky currently has depth concerns in the backcourt. Further, counting the number of returnees and incoming scholarship freshmen, the Wildcats have one scholarship available for the 2013-14 season.
Kentucky has two recruitments outstanding: Hawkins as well as the top overall prospect in the class, Andrew Wiggins. Recruiting analysts believe the recruitments are exclusive. Even if Hawkins were to get an offer and commit, the Wildcats would still take a commitment from Wiggins. In such a scenario, Jarrod Polson would presumably give up his scholarship and return to being a preferred walk-on, the status with which he started his Kentucky career.
Currently, Kentucky has twin freshmen guards Aaron and Andrew Harrison slated to start, with returnees Polson and Jon Hood providing backup minutes. Incoming freshman James Young could also play minutes at the 2, though he is currently projected to spend more time at small forward. Hawkins would add additional depth to the backcourt, and serve as a continuing backup presence after the graduations of Polson and Hood following next season.
Hawkins currently holds offers from the Purdue Boilermakers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Morehead St. Eagles and Murray St. Racers. [Editor's note: The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have also extended an offer to Hawkins.]
