Aaron Gordon Commits to the Arizona Wildcats

The 5* forward from Sal Jose (Cal.) Archbishop Mitty announced his decision at a McDonald's All-American game presser.

2013 combo forward Aaron Gordon from San Jose (Cal.) Archbishop Mitty has committed to the Arizona Wildcats. He chose Arizona over the Kentucky Wildcats, Washington Huskies, and Oregon Ducks.

The talented Californian announced his decision at a presser from the McDonald's All-American game. Gordon, a five-star recruit, will play in the game tomorrow. The 6' 8" forward is ranked 6th nationally in the 247 Composite rankings.

Kentucky had long found a place on Gordon's list of finalists. At the very least, it seemed plausible that Kentucky head coach John Calipari could pull another talented recruit from the West Coast. Unfortunately for Gordon, it seems like Kentucky simply ran out of space. After the commitment of fellow 5* forward Julius Randle, Kentucky was basically full up in the front court.

Had things been different, maybe Gordon might have pulled the trigger on Kentucky. However, the Wildcats were considered a long shot. Instead, Gordon will remain near the coast, playing for a Pac-12 power. With the "other" Wildcats expected to return a strong and talented core--including a freshmen big trio of Grant Jarrett, Kaleb Tarczewski and Brandon Ashley--expect Arizona to be one of the chief contenders to Kentucky's title run next year.
