UK Hoops Vs. Vanderbilt Pre-Game and Game Thread

Well, my predictions went about as well as usual. I couldn't pick my nose if there was money on the game, so there you have it. The ladies will be playing Vandy. Figures. We can't do anything the easy way.

I am hoping Mitchell doesn't have to do that a lot against Vandy.

Do yourself a favor, ignore the post I put up about the women's tournament. Although .500 is not bad for a baseball average, in brackets, it can get you killed. For now, let's talk about Vanderbilt.

Vandy put away Missouri and gained their 20th win of the season. I should have known Melanie Balcomb was not going to let that 14 year 20-win season streak go by the wayside. Suffice it to say, however, Kentucky is not Mizzou. Vanderbilt will not out muscle Kentucky, nor will they be able to have players going .500 from 3-pt range. Kentucky's defense will see to that. What Vanderbilt will do is not back down from UK's pressure, and fold like some teams do.

Vanderbilt likes to press some themselves, although not a lot, because they don't have the personnel for it. Vandy will play Kentucky tight, get all up in their jerseys in half court defense, and take advantage of every mistake UK makes. So, the formula is simple. Just do not make any mistakes.

Expect the game to be tight and close for a while, but I believe that UK will make short work of Vandy here.

Matthew Mitchell will not, however, take Vandy lightly, and he will use every player on that bench if he needs to. I am looking for a big game from DeNesha Stallworth. She has been a bit absent of late, but now is the time to put an end to that. Tourney time is here, and Kentucky is in Catlanta. Time to shine. Cats by a dozen.
