Per multiple recruiting services, 2013 small forward Andrew Wiggins from Huntington (WV) Prep will take an official visit to the Kentucky Wildcats on February 27. Kentucky hosts the Mississippi St. Bulldogs that weekend. Wiggins is the top-rated prospect in the 2013 class, and head coach John Calipari has been aggressively recruiting the talented swingman.
Wiggins had previously taken an official visit to the Florida St. Seminoles in early December. Many recruitniks consider Florida St. and Kentucky the top two leaders in Wiggins' recruitment. Both of Wiggins' parents are FSU alums. In addition, Wiggins' close friend and teammate, Xavier Rathan-Mayes, is Tallahassee-bound next year. Meanwhile, if he were to join Kentucky, he would be part of a stellar 2013 recruiting class and a team that would almost certainly be favorites to win the National Championship.
Per Wiggins' high school coach Rob Fulford, Wiggins has tentatively scheduled not only the Kentucky visit, but also visits to the North Carolina Tar Heels and Kansas Jayhawks. Wiggins plans to visit Kansas on March 4, followed by North Carolina on March 9. With the Regular Signing Period beginning in mid-April, Wiggins would have about a month remaining in his recruitment to make a final decision.
