Welcome to the final Quickies of 2013. A Sea of Blue wishes you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014.
Tweet of the Morning:
Random fact: John Calipari has used 84 different lineup combinations so far this year.

Nice to have that many available.
Your Quickies:
Kentucky football
-
Matt Elam more comfortable with UK than Alabama. Via NextCats.
-
Elam a top performer in the Army All-American Bowl practice.
Kentucky basketball
-
Heh. Whatever that's supposed to mean. I have no idea. The first Hunger Games I found to be mostly uninteresting. I have yet to watch the second, maybe it will be better.
-
James Young getting plenty of love for his performance vs. Louisville.
-
More love for James Young from Sports Illustrated, plus some Randle and Andrew Harrison.
-
Chad Ford thinks that Randle could be the #1 pick next June.
-
Evan Daniels looks askance at Adam Zagoria's unnamed NBA executive:
@EvanDaniels A lot of NBA folks aren't high on them right now. That exec especially.
— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) December 31, 2013 -
Alex Poythress' progress is very encouraging.

Mack Brown coaches his last game at Texas — a 30-7 loss to Oregon.
College basketball

Toledo had been among college basketball's unbeatens — until Kansas defeated them last night. Even with that said, Toledo put up a fight in Lawrence.

More on Chane Behanan's dismissal. I heard someone on the TV news attribute to Pitino that the problem was "medical" in nature. Yahoo speculates that suggest drug-testing results.
-
Kevin Ware's leg may not be good enough for him to play this season, and Pitino suggested it was likely he would be redshirted.
-
Okay, this is just bad. Seriously.
-
Gary Parrish does some digging, and found that two AP poll voters kept Louisville third on their ballot. One submitted last week's ballot in error, the other said he didn't seen any need to change it.
One was possibly an honest mistake, but the other should be removed from the rolls. He is incompetent to offer his opinion.
I am fine with Louisville being ranked 10th, or was until Chane Behanan was sent packing. Now, I think it's too high.
