Kentucky Wildcats 73, Louisville Cardinals 66: Post Game Thread

Kentucky gets the top 25 monkey off their back at Rupp Arena, sending a strong Louisville team to defeat, 73-66.

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats have defended their house against an invasion by the defending NCAA Tournament champion Louisville Cardinals. The Year of the Cardinal has come to an end, and the Kentucky Wildcats are once again ascendant.

I tell you that Louisville plays harder than any team, ever. I have never seen a team play with such absolute abandon. But they are simply not that talented. They are talented, and they have great players, but they are not talented or big enough. That's just the truth. They are a great team, they have a great coach, and I could go on and on praising them. But this time, Kentucky was superior to the extent that they didn't even have Julius Randle available in the second half after he scored 17 points in the first.

I want to congratulate the Louisville Cardinals, because they deserve it. They win this game in the Yum Center, and that's my opinion. On a neutral court, I say it's a pick-em, but the Cardinals are very, very good and gave us one heck of a game.

I know you are all happy, and I am done praising Louisville. This game belongs to a Kentucky team who, despite many flaws and the loss of their leading scorer, demonstrated exactly why they were the #1 ranked team in the nation pre-season.

I'll have more on this later, but for now, celebrate, Wildcats fans! This was a win we badly needed, and this basketball team delivered its best performance of they year in a rivalry game against their toughest foe.

This is what we live for.

Go, 'Cats!
