Kentucky Wildcats Recruiting: Top 2015 Prospect Karl Towns Receives an Offer

Karl Towns, the #1 overall prospect in the class of 2015, was officially offered by the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend. He announced the offer via his Twitter account. Towns is just a sophomore but is already listed at 6' 11", 235 pounds. He plays for St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, NJ, and helped lead his team to a state title last spring.

The early offer is extremely uncharacteristic of Kentucky head coach John Calipari. The Wildcats have just five official offers out to the 2014 class, let alone the class of 2015. However, Calipari is already very familiar with Towns. This past summer, Towns tried out for and made the Dominican Republic National Team, coached by Calipari. Towns spent some time in Lexington during the team's training camp this past July.

Towns also received a scholarship offer from Florida over the weekend. Many more offers are sure to come, and Towns lists interest from a whole host of top schools, including Duke, North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, and others.
