It seems like Coach Cal has won about every award you can name in coaching, but there is one that he hasn't won -- the brand new Nell and John Wooden Coach of the Year Leadership Award. Well, that's about to change.
Next Thursday in the Capitol Hilton in Washington D.C., Calipari will receive the inaugural Nell and John Wooden Coach of the Year Leadership Award from Nan Wooden, daughter of Coach John Wooden. The first thing I thought of when I read about this is, I wonder how the UCLA Bruins basketball fans feel about a rival getting an award named in honor of their most beloved coach. Maybe some of them will pop in and tell us.

Coach John Calipari is headed to D.C. to accept the inaugural John Wooden Coach of the Year award from Nan Wooden, daughter of legendary coach John Wooden. The awards ceremony and reception will be an opportunity to celebrate Coach Calipari and honor the legacy of John Wooden. The Nation's Capital UK Alumni Club invites you to take part in the festivities! A group outing has been arranged for this event with three different package options.
