Kentucky Wildcats Recruiting: Top 2013 Prospect Julius Randle Set for Official Visit

Presswire

2013 power forward Julius Randle, from Plano (TX) Prestonwood Christian, will take his first official visit of the year to Kentucky this weekend. Randle will be attending the UK Alumni Game. Two other recruits are expected to be in town this weekend. 2013 power forward Derek Willis, from Mt. Washington (KY) Bullitt East, and 2014 point guard JaQuan Lyle, from Evansville (IN) Bosse, will take unofficial visits. Willis is currently the only committed prospect in the 2013 class.

The weekend will showcase the 1996 championship team. Derek Anderson, Anthony Epps, Walter McCarty, Jeff Sheppard, Wayne Turner, and Antoine Walker are all expected to participate. John Wall and the rapper Drake are slated to be the two coaches for the game, with more recently alumni like Anthony Davis, Josh Harrellson and DeMarcus Cousins also making an appearance.

Randle is in the middle of taking in-home visits from the remaining schools on his list. He talked with John Calipari on September 9, and has also met with Duke, North Carolina, NC State, and Kansas. Next week, Randle will talk to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas, before wrapping up with Florida. Currently, Randle's only other scheduled visit is to Florida on the weekend of October 5.

Randle has quickly become Kentucky's top big man target in the 2013 class, and is currently the only big with an offer. At power forward, the Wildcats are also scouting Marcus Lee from Antioch (CA) Deer Valley, who could conceivably play center, as well as Jermaine Lawrence from Queens (NY) Pope John Paul XIII. Neither has an offer, though Lee recently cut his list to three and will receive an in-home visit from Kentucky on Sunday.
