Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Cliff Alexander Picks Up An Offer

As a follow-up to the 2014 Recruiting Big Board, published last Wednesday: it has been reported this morning that 2014 five-star center Cliff Alexander (Curie / Chicago, IL) has picked up an offer from the Kentucky Wildcats. Alexander becomes the second player in the 2014 class to receive an official Kentucky offer, following the consensus top prospect, Andrew Wiggins (Huntington Prep / Toronto, Ont). Another prospect, point guard Emmanuel Mudiay (Grace Prep / Arlington, TX) may also have an offer, though that has not been confirmed.

Alexander's offer is interesting, as Kentucky had also been high on fellow highly-rated center Dakari Johnson (Montverde Academy / New York, NY). Johnson has been high on scouts' lists since middle school. As a freshman, he played high school ball with former Wildcat Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at St. Patrick in New Jersey. With Alexander not expected to make a decision anytime soon, Johnson is still very much in line for an offer, and one may come down the road.

Either player would be a heck of a presence in the paint for the Wildcats. Alexander, who had previously called Kentucky his "dream school," says he plans to visit Kentucky soon. He hopes to make it in October for Big Blue Madness.
