SB Nation is providing us the tools to better cover football recruiting, and tonight, Blake McClain of Winter Park, Florida, a Rivals 3* cornerback (5'11", 185#) will choose between the Kentucky Wildcats, Illinois Fighting Illini, Pittsburgh Panthers and the South Florida Bulls:
Two of Central Florida’s top 2013 prospects plan to announce the school they are verbally committing to Wednesday evening.
Winter Park High cornerback Blake McClain and Orlando Evans High receiver Dominic Walker will reveal their choices live, right here on OrlandoSentinel.com at 7 p.m. EST.
SB Nation's football recruiting expert Bud Elliott had this to say about McClain:
Mar 6, 2012 - Blake McClain, a defensive back out of Orlando (Fla.) Winter Park took home the defensive back MVP award over the weekend at the NUC Orlando Five-Star Showcase. McClain showed excellent burst and technique, making several nice pass breakups in 1-on-1 situations.
This would be yet another opportunity for Joker Phillips to get a Florida player, something that has been a focus of his recruiting this year as he has managed to sign 2 so far. McClain could be the third.
Clearly, Charlie Strong's success recruiting the state of Florida has motivated Phillips to go there also, and that is definitely a good thing. UK has traditionally not recruited that state very well, but that is changing, and if UK picks up McClain, very much for the better.
The Arizona Wildcats were in the mix for McClain as of the 19th, but the most recent information from him seems to lack their mention, so maybe he has dropped them from his list. I can't confirm that, though.
