UKHOOPS Postmortem: UK Takes Out Gonzaga, Reaches Elite Eight

Attention Big Blue Nation: We Got Ourselves Some Ball Players At UK!!! Just in case you didn't know it. UK's Women's Squad just thumped Gonzaga and their heavily touted offense like they were red-headed step-children. On the same day the Anthony Davis and Co. got over the hump and put UK back into the Final Four, the UKHOOPS squad just put themselves back into the Elite Eight for the second time in three years.

So as the men prepare for this week's upcoming battle with Little Brother, the women will be taking on a challenge of their own as they face the UCONN Lady Huskies on Tuesday evening. UK took out Gonzaga 79-62, in a game that practically mirrored the men's effort today. UK jumped out to a big lead and never let Gonzaga back into the game. The closest the Lady Bulldogs came was when they cut the score to 59-53, before two Keyla Snowden 3 pt shots put the game on ice for good.

This puts Kentucky smack dab in the middle of UCONN's sights, as they are trying to get back to the Women's Championship game for anothe Women's Title. The UCONN women have a powerful defense, and a first rate offense, and will provide UK with the biggest game of their season so far. Snowden had 17 pts for UK, Samarie Walker added another 16, and A'dia Mathies tossed in 15 as well in a very balanced attack for UK. Tuesday night there will be another live thread as they move to the ESPN flagship for the Elite Eight round. Kentucky had it's A game tonight, but it is going to take an A+ game to take down Geno Auremma and the Lady Huskies.
