Scott Caufield and I have been doing a podcast every year for his blog, CrimsonCast, for three years running. This year, we had what is probably a very rare opportunity to do a second discussion of the Indiana Hoosiers and Kentucky Wildcats in honor of the Sweet Sixteen contest between the two teams tonight. You can find a link to the podcast here.
It's always a pleasure to talk to Scott, he does a terrific job with these podcasts and is one of the most pleasant and knowledgeable Indiana fans you would ever want to meet. Indiana has only recently risen from a long stretch of the blackest irrelevance, and even though Kentucky fans have not known this misery in a few years now, I doubt if we have forgotten how it feels. After all, we are only three years removed from an NIT, as hard as that might be to remember, and I will never forget the joy of finally getting back to being on the lips of every national basketball conversation.
It's safe to say that IU is on their way back to that level of basketball as well, and their appearance as Kentucky's foe in this year's Sweet Sixteen serves as a testament to their success. They have a very highly ranked recruiting class coming in to add to their current crop of skilled players, so I think it's safe to say that Indiana is back as a basketball powerhouse, and the rivalry with Kentucky, if it wasn't fully renewed as of the last game, most certainly is now.
Enjoy!
