Aaron Gordon Cuts List, UK Amongst 3 Finalists

2013 five-star forward Aaron Gordon from San Jose (Cal.) Archbishop Mitty has cut his list of five down to three finalists. The Kentucky Wildcats made Gordon's final cut, along with the Arizona Wildcats and Washington Huskies. Gordon is no longer considering the Kansas Jayhawks or Oregon Ducks.

Gordon made official visits to all five schools this fall. He took his final official visit, to Lexington, last weekend. After flying in Friday evening, he met with John Calipari and the rest of the coaching staff on Saturday, after the team flew back from Brooklyn following its season opening win against Maryland.

Though Gordon has taken all his official visits, he is not expected to make a decision until the spring. Recruitniks consider Washington the prohibitive favorite, though that is by no means a slam dunk.

Gordon plays for the famed Oakland Soldiers AAU, which has produced a pipeline of players to Arizona in the past few years. Arizona currently features two former Soldiers in Brandon Ashley and Nick Johnson. Current Kentucky forward Kyle Wiltjer also played for the Oakland Soldiers alongside Ashley and Johnson.

The Wildcats are looking for another forward to fill out the class. Along with Gordon, Kentucky is also recruiting Julius Randle, a pure power forward, and Andrew Wiggins, a small forward. Gordon is more a combo forward, and looks like he could play either the 3 or the 4.

That versatility would allow him to slot in well alongside either Randle or Wiggins, although the potential of Kentucky landing two of those players is possible, but unlikely. Both Randle and Wiggins will also make spring decisions, leaving plenty of time for Kentucky to sort out these recruitments.
