Kentucky football

• Coaching Candidate: Mike MacIntyre // Bleed Blue Kentucky
  Some information about San Jose State's Mike MacIntyre, one of the presumed leaders for the Kentucky job.

• Kentucky Sports Radio // Kliff Kingsbury hates buttons, runs the Air Raid, and dated hot Jessica Simpson
  Well, not sure what buttons or Jessica Simpson have to do with his qualifications as coach, but okay.

• Mitch Barnhart making the decision // Bleed Blue Kentucky

  Many are suggesting there is a political battle between Mitch Barnhart and the BOT over the next head football coach. This could be accurate, but it also may be irrelevant. Based on feedback I have received, President Eli Capilouto has full confidence in Mitch Barnhart making the decision. Unless he resigns or is fired, Barnhart will be UK’s athletic director until 2019.

  It seems to me somebody else said this recently. Oh wait... it was me!

  Which brings us to Bobby Petrino. I could overlook his Arkansas motorcycle escapades if that were an isolated case of dishonesty.

  I don't think even Illinois will fire their head coach after one season without some kind of moral turpitude, and Tim Beckman has been all class. Unfortunately, he hasn't been successful his first year.

  You can see the depth and breadth of the "No ethical price is too high to pay for a winner" attitude that pervades college sports today. If Illinois fired Beckman, they might as well hire Petrino.

Kentucky basketball

  Maybe not. We'll see.

  I think we'll see both Goodwin and Polson at the point, and I expect Duke to really press our guards hard. That's what they do. How well Kentucky handles that pressure will have a big say in the game's outcome.

  Krzyzewski and Calipari have coached against each other just once as college coaches, when then-No. 1 Duke beat No. 11 Memphis 70-67 in a Nov. 2005 non-conference game.

  Interesting that these two have so rarely met.

  Kentucky freshman Willie Cauley-Stein leaned against a wall Monday, took questions from the media and created a few laughs when he at first seemed baffled and then acknowledged openly that he's never seen or heard of one of the most famous shots in NCAA history -- that jumper launched in Philadelphia by Duke's Christian Laettner.

  WCS wasn't even an itch in his daddy's pants when that shot went through the hoop in Philly.
