Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Offers Extended to Mitch McGary & TJ Warren

Kentucky and Coach Calipari extended offers to future Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH) teammates Mitch McGary and TJ Warren today. Both are members of the class of 2012.

The McGary offer was expected, and he'll be in contention with power forwards Perry Ellis, Anthony Bennett, Brandon Ashley, and others. McGary skyrocketed up the recruiting boards after a strong spring and is now ranked 5th overall by Rivals. He's got a laundry list of blue blood suitors, including Maryland, Duke, UNC, UConn, Arizona, Texas and Kansas.

The Warren offer was a little more of a surprise. Warren is ranked just 36th overall by Rivals (as if "just 36th" is a bad thing!), and he had recently announced a revised list sans UK. Further, Kentucky is on the short list of two higher ranked small forwards/wings, Shabazz Muhammad and Devonta Pollard. However, Warren is a known commodity to Calipari. Warren previously played at Word of God Academy (Raleigh, NC), and Calipari no doubt saw Warren when he was recruiting 2011 big man Joseph Uchebo (who chose to attend Chipola Junior College in Florida).

Oh by the way, both McGary and Warren are being recruited by our good friends, the Fightin' Pitinos.

There's a ton of Kentucky-pertinent July recruiting news that will be covered in the next iteration of the 2012 Recruiting Big Board. For now, follow me on Twitter at @JC_at_M2M for the latest updates.
