This was a busy weekend, the first one in a while with weather good enough for some serious home maintenance and catching up on other work that needed doing. For my part, I was glad to see it, even though it was hot outside. But while I was sweating outside, the summer basketball is heating up throughout the land, and it just keeps looking better for Kentucky every day.

Deron Williams: If owners have way, more NBA players will go overseas - NBA - Sporting News
Williams also told ESPN that he’s heard from at least 10 NBA players – and identified some as superstars – since his decision to go overseas became public. And, he says, many players may follow his lead.
Maybe. I'm a bit skeptical for a lot of reasons, though -- not the least of which is that this option has always been available. My feeling is that Williams is blowing smoke on this. We'll see.

Jerry Tipton: Purvis no longer being recruited by UK.
When asked his reaction to Kentucky taking Harrow, Purvis said in a soft voice, "It's never good when somebody feels they've got what they need and don't need you. ... I'll recover from it."
Apparently UK has stopped recruiting Purvis. I know this is not news, but it's interesting to see. I remember when Calipari had no trouble recruiting Bledsoe after Wall committed, so I'm wondering if there is something going on that we don't know about. Probably.

Kentucky HoopFest :: Elite schools all courting T.J. Warren :: courier-journal.com
"Coach Calipari has been calling my dad and he has been coming to see me play," Warren said. "It's really cool to have Coach Calipari interested in me. I was excited when they gave me an offer."
How good does it feel to have recruits saying this about our coach? How much does it put lie to the detractors?
