Kentucky has had mixed fortunes against Louisville in recent years, but this year brings perhaps the most evenly-matched game in the recent history of the series. As with all Louisville-Kentucky games, this is a grudge match, and over the last two years, both teams have delivered a drubbing to the other in this series. In 2009, Kentucky whipped Louisville by 34 in a major upset. Last year, the Cardinals stuck it to Kentucky, returning the favor in a major upset against the then 8th-ranked Lady 'Cats, whacking them by 26.
In this game, both teams are ranked in the top 15 in both polls, making it among the most exciting ever of this long-running series.
