Season tip-off, baby!

Tonight, the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Marist College Red Foxes in Rupp Arena for an early-season tussle.  Some quick facts about Marist:

As you may know, this is the first meeting ever between Marist and the Kentucky Wildcats.  Marist had a really tough year last year, only managing six victories overall for head coach Chuck Martin, who was a former assistant under John Calipari at Memphis as well as under Bruiser Flint at Umass, so the Calipari connections with Martin go deep.

This game, as usual with such games in the very early season, is a big mismatch.  Kentucky is taller, faster, and far more talented than the Red Foxes, but with that said, they are the first Division I team Kentucky has faced this year, and should be a significant upgrade in competition over Morehouse and Transylvania.

I think we all expect this game to be competitive for only a short while.  But you never know.

Go, 'Cats!
