From the land of unsurprising news, sophomore Terrence Jones was named to the Associated Press' preseason All-American team. It was a second year party, as Jones was joined by fellow sophomores Harrison Barnes (North Carolina), Jared Sullinger (Ohio St.), and Jeremy Lamb (Connecticut). The fifth pick was senior Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin).
Jones received 33 out of 65 votes. Sullinger was the only unanimous pick, while two voters inexplicably left Barnes off their ballots.
The Kentucky forward surprised many when he declined to stay in last year's NBA Draft, instead choosing to return to Lexington for his sophomore season. Jones averaged 15.7 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game as a freshman.
After scoring 52 points in the Blue-White Game, Jones looks poised to take a second-year leap and shine as a team leader. Let's hope we see him make the same All-American lists, only this time in the postseason.
