Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: SEC Power Poll Ballot

Powerpoll2010logo_medium

The SEC is a strange place, and strange things happen often.  This weekend we saw the Arkansas Razorbacks stroll into the toughest gym in the league and maybe in the country, Memorial Gym in Nashville, and thumped the Vanderbilt Commodores as if the Commodores made crude jokes about their mamas.

Then, the Auburn Tigers march in to Columbia and triumph over a South Carolina team that had been playing pretty well.  Perhaps this represents a hangover from the Kentucky loss the other day, but it certainly hurts their chances of getting an NCAA bid, as it is a very bad loss.

Throw in the suddenly potent Tennessee Volunteers and the schizophrenic Mississippi St. Bulldogs, and you have one strange and volatile league.  And what about the Tide on a roll with the best record in the SEC?

My ballot after the jump.

Rnk Team W L Comments
1 Kentucky 16 4 Beat the Gamecocks on the road and the Dawgs at home. Class of the league right now.
2 Tennessee 14 7 Tennessee is beginning to get used to life without Pearl. The SEC should fear this team.
3 Florida 16 5 The Gators looked bad losing to MSU at the Hump. Kenny Boynton had a reputation as a shooter, but he must just have a good PR firm.
4 Vanderbilt 15 5 So Vandy allows Arkansas to shoot 64% eFG. That means Arkansas didn't need to play defense to win huge.
5 Alabama 13 7 Alabama is playing well. The cruel abuse of LSU by the Tide on the offensive glass should have gotten the whole team arrested.
6 Georgia 14 6 The Dawgs have hit a really tough stretch, but they have the game to recover. Can they do it on the road?
7 Arkansas 14 6 Have the Hawgs found something? Two in a row, and their next two in Fayetteville. Look out, SEC West.
8 Mississippi 13 8 Only one win in conference, and Kentucky coming up next. Caught between the devil and the Big Blue Nation.
9 South Carolina 12 7 Apparently, the loss to Kentucky cost them two games. Bad loss to Auburn pretty much makes an NCAA berth a long shot.
10 Mississippi St. 11 9 Crazy, schizoid team. What will they do next?
11 LSU 10 11 Even as bad as they are, their SEC record is better than Ole Miss.
12 Auburn 8 13 There will be no winless teams in this league, but the Tigers are still at the bottom.

The full power poll results are at Garnet and Black Attack as always.  Discuss.
