Here is the statistical comparison between Kentucky and Ole Miss.
Statistically speaking, both teams have their good points and bad points. Kentucky is a better shooting team in almost every regard, but Ole Miss is a better ballhandling and rebounding team. That makes for an interesting contrast and a reason for Kentucky to fear -- if the Rebels shoot the ball well and everything else stays statistically consistent, it doesn't bode well for the Cats.
The Rebels are simply an outstanding rebounding team, 11th in the entire nation. They are averaging almost six more offensive rebounds per game than UK is, but that statistic is a bit misleading. Ole Miss plays the game at the highest pace of anyone in the conference, averaging an amazing 74 possessions/40 minutes. That is among the fastest in the entire nation, significantly faster than either Tennessee, Vanderbilt or even Memphis. Because there are so many more rebounds available in a game played at such a frenetic pace, it's unsurprising that they would show more rebounds. But they get offensive rebounds at nearly a 40% rate, compared to UK's 34%, so even though it isn't quite as bad as the numbers make it look, it is still a significant concern for the Cats.
Unlike Tennessee, Ole Miss has a proven ability to win games at any pace. Like Tennessee, however, they are extremely susceptible to good ballhandling -- Ole Miss is 5-9 against teams who turn the ball over under 20 times per game. Ole Miss has been an awful road team this season, winning only once in 6 tries on the trail.
I'll have a more in-depth look at the game in my adversary analysis. For more on the Ole Miss Rebels, you can take a visit to WorldClassGlass, who does a pretty good job of covering Ole Miss sports.
