Here is the Week 9 Basketball BlogPoll.
The top ten teams are still quite stable, but we are now seeing some movement in 10-15. Not many big moves, though.
Vanderbilt seems to have peaked for the moment, despite their undefeated record. Ole Miss continues to surprise and made the biggest upward jump in the poll. Louisville, despite beating UK, has still not found its way back into the rankings. I guess the voters just don't think that win was all that impressive. :-)
Memphis is finally recognized as the best team in the land, and I am convinced they are better than UNC, and now a goodly number of others are, also. Marquette took a big hit by losing to West Virgina in Morgantown, and then playing a close game at home against Seton Hall. I'm not sure they deserved that big of a hit, but others apparently disagree. Oklahoma and West Virginia make an appearance in the poll for the first time this season.
Oklahoma is not a bad choice, but I am beginning to like Drake, whom I voted for in the #24 spot. Drake is undefeated, has a win over a good SIU team and currently has a #21 RPI rating. Pomeroy also likes the Bulldogs, having them in his #25 spot currently. I also like Ohio State, who clocks in at # 19 on the RPI, beat an improving Florida squad convincingly, and seems to be on the rise. OSU only lost one more game than WVU, and WVU has a softer schedule and lost 2 of their last 3. OSU, on the other hand, is on a 7-game roll.
The public spreadsheet is here so you can see how everyone voted. Comments and observations, as usual, are welcome.
