What's the Buzz?

The buzz today is all about AAU tournaments, and not much else.  It is rare to wake up on a Sunday and not find much UK news, but on a sleepy Memorial Day weekend, I guess that's not too surprising.

First, I would be remiss if I didn't point you to the Kentucky Sports Radio  site this weekend.  The KSR guys are covering two AAU events this weekend, the Nike Memorial Day Classic down in Nashville, and the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions.  Note that at the BGTOC site, they are providing a live feed as well as some replays of highlighted games.  I am watching a game now in which UK recruit Romero Osby is playing.

Anyway, KSR has lots of player interviews and evaluations going on throughout the weekend.  Right now, Marc Maggard has three player interviews up:  Tony Woods, Willie Warren and Greg Monroe, and all worth a read.

Jody Demling the Courier-Journal is also at the Memorial Day Classic, and he has been providing coverage at his blog.  Particularly noteworthy are his comments about former 2008 commit Draymond Green, whom Jody says is back on UK's radar.  He also says Green is a serious player who definitely warrants attention.  Jamychal Green, a stud 2008 point guard, is also said to have UK on his list.

For those of you who just can't get enough of recruiting, Rivals has this free article up also covering the TOC, and reports UK interest in Javon Farrell, a Bishop Ireton player (Mike Williams is from there) who is impressing scouts.  2010 big man and UK recruit Dakotah Euton also gets a mention.

More on Tyler Zeller at this CSTV article.  This sounds encouraging:

Another prospect that had fans really paying attention tonight was 7-foot Tyler Zeller from the Indiana Elite.   The extremely mobile big man outran his defender all night long to score 20 points and pull down an unofficial 12 boards.  He runs harder end to end than any other big man in the class!

Rivals has a look at day one of the Memorial Day Classic as well.
