Baseball Cats: Poor get richer

Even before Kentucky embarked on an historic regular season -- highlighted by a share of the SEC title and SEC Player and Coach of the Year awardees -- the groundwork was being laid for the future of the program.

And now it's official. Head coach John Cohen has hauled in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's No. 21 recruiting class in the nation for 2007.

The banned class includes gems in pitchers Clint Tilford and Chris Walden, both Gatorade State Players of the Year. The 20-man group also features a key transfer from Wichita State in Brian Spear, a third baseman.

Congrats to the hard work paying off for Cohen and Co. Next season will be big for the Wildcats, who will look to continue their upward trajectory, something prior UK teams have struggled to do in the ever-competitive SEC.
