Onward and upward

Fresh off one of -- if not the -- best seasons in Kentucky baseball history, AD Mitch Barnhardt did a wise thing in locking up head coach John Cohen for another 5 years.

The prospects of building an elite program at Kentucky are strong, as the area is baseball-crazy and talented, having produced the likes of Brandon Webb (All-Star), Brad Wilkerson, Austin Kearns and Joe Blanton, to name just a few.

It was thought that Cohen might be persuaded to head to greener pastures. Sounds like $295,000 annually was enough green for him. The new deal theoretically keeps Cohen in the UK dugout through 2011.
