Tubby Smith: The Coach's Coach

A great post from an entertaining and rabid UK blog run by Matt Jones today about his interactions with the elite members of the college hoops coaching fraternity.

One coach says, "If I were the athletic director of a big time college program, Tubby Smith would be one of my first two calls."

An interesting compliment, and deeper than "He's really good at coaching."

Fans will no doubt harp on the idea that it's not about other coaches liking Smith, or that they would of course want Smith to stay because "We are slipping." But the truth is we have the Godfather of Coaching, universally respected and feared for his acumen.

Now if maybe his assistants could bring in a few Five-Stars to help Tubby out ...
