Bat Cats take swing at history

The season of dreams that is the current Bat Cats campaign shifts into playoff mode today, as the boys in blue take on Ball State in their NCAA regional opener at 7 pm ET.

Ball State will start left-hander Ben Snyder, a 2005 Freshman All-American who put up good numbers this season for the fourth seeded Cardinals with a 7-5 record and 4.71 ERA.

UK puts the ball in the hands of senior Craig Snipp, another lefty, who posted a 7-4 mark with a 3.47 ERA.

A sold out crowd of 3,000 plus is expected. This game follows the Notre Dame-College of Charleston opener this afternoon.

Update [2006-6-2 22:19:39 by JL Blue]:

Who was talking about History? That's what the baseball Cats are going to be unless they suddenly remember how they won 42 games.

A 3-1 loss at home -- where they went 29-4 -- puts the Wildcats one loss away from finishing the year in a most disappointing fashion. Losers of three straight games, the Bat Cats are in need of a revival ... and fast.
