A quickie follow-up on a former UK hoopster done good.
Where is the JUCO saviour Antwain Barbour? With the Yakima Sun Kings of the CBA, of course.
Known to most UK fans as the guy who couldn't seem to put it all together, Barbour has flashed above-average scoring ability in his professional stops: first with Kentucky of the ABA and now with the Sun Kings.
NBA teams may not have noticed yet, but a few more 20+ ppg scoring years should at least have his star rising, and for now, Barbour seems comfortable with his chosen career. As with all of Tubby Smith's former players, offense is not the only way they get noticed.
"When we've given him a tough (defensive) assignment and asked him to be a stopper, he usually rises to the occasion," Woolpert said.
In that regard, Barbour comes with an impressive pedigree having played for Tubby Smith at Kentucky.
"At Kentucky, it's all about defense," he said. "I've been able to bring that to this level. I love to come out and get after people."
Spoken like a true Tubby Smith Wildcat if there ever was one.
