Mickie DeMoss' hopes of turning the Kentucky women's program into a consistent winner got a boost today with a generous 5 seed, based in the Bridgeport (Conn.) Regional.
Saturday's opener, against 27-3 UT-Chattanooga, will be the Lady Cats' first tournament appearance since 1999. If the Cats win -- and they are 5-0 lifetime against the Moccasins -- they would face the winner of #4 Michigan State and # 13 UW-Milwaukee.
The UK women pulled off the big home upset over Tennessee this season, and a run to the Sweet 16 would be a huge step for the program, not to mention a recruiting aid.
DeMoss in so many ways seems the right hire for the program, and here's wishing her and her Lady Cats the best of luck in the NCAAs.
