GAMEDAY: Cats take aim at No. 7

New, comments

In what sure looks like a game scheduled with bowl fever in mind, Kentucky looks to push its record to 7 wins on the season when Louisiana-Monroe (2-7) comes to Commonwealth Stadium today for a 1:00 pm ET affair.

After the unexpected win over Georgia put the Cats in good shape, and last week's impressive victory over Vanderbilt sealed the six-win deal, a 7th win would give UK some leveredge in negotiations with the bowl committees. And it would add a nice guaranteed over-.500 flavor to an already impressive football campaign for coach Rich Brooks and his staff, who have earned reported new contracts.

Junior Andre' Woodson is a team captain for today, and why not? The reigning SEC Offensive Player of the Week looks to cap a remarkable season with wins over UL-M and, hopefully, Tennessee.

But first things first, take carae of business against an overmatched foe. A surprise at the hands of the Warhawks would be a bad loss, so here's hoping the Cats can keep their heads in advance of UT.
