Now that's my kind of wait. I'm an impatient guy generally, and I'm even worse when it's Kentucky basketball season. Three days is a long wait (and the standard one, in-season). A week? I'm a nervous wreck. But two days?
This game lines up nicely, in fact. It's a big game for the boys in Blue, who get the luxury -- in my opinion -- of righting any 'wrongs' or ironing out the rough edges a bit just that scant two days later. With a trip to Maui upcoming, some potentially very good teams lying in wait, the extra game preparation is clutch.
That's why I expect a better team this evening. Which is not to say that the game on Wednesday was bad. I posted earlier that I saw progress there, some tough moments, yes, but an 11-point win. Similar rough edges remain tonight and I may be singing a different tune heading into Monday.
It does line up, though. Mississippi Valley State at Rupp tonight is game No. 500 overall (314, UK) for coach Tubby Smith. The man has won an astounding 366 of those (.734) over the course of 16 seasons at Kentucky, Georgia and Tulsa. Congrats, coach. That's a lot of bad refs, good charges taken, heartbreakers, hail Marys, missed assignments, missed free throws, and anything else a coach has to live or die with over the years.
Tonight, according to the official game notes, here are your probable starters.
