Now was that so hard?
Coming off the biggest win of the Rich Brooks era, Kentucky had to take care of business against a game, if unimpressively statured, Vanderbilt team. The Commodores did beat Georgia as well, remember.
Thanks to the personal best excellence of sophomore SEC Offensive Player of the Week Andre' Woodson, and his teammates Keenan Burton and Rafael Little, UK put up eye-popping numbers in a 38-26 victory that put the Cats over the Bowl hump.
Woodson was simply magnificent, totalling 450 yards and tossing four touchdowns (two to Burton) in setting career marks. Little benefitted and contributed to Woodson's record day with 246 yards from scrimmage (132 on 20 carries, 114 on 8 receptions).
Maybe more important than the individual performance was the attitude and killer instinct the Wildcats showed, clearly a holdover from the Georgia win.
With the victory, Kentucky is bowl eligible, and if the Cats can take care of business against Louisiana-Monroe next week, they can aim for a stronger postseason slot.
And who knows, maybe the new, confident Cats can surprise a very good Tennessee team. In this season of surpassed expectations, even gloomy watchers like myself have to question if anything's impossible for this crew.
