OPEN SHOT: Harrellson, Flemings and Riley, oh my!

Not much happening as we wait with bated breath on word from Josh Harrellson's school of choice.  While we wait, I hunted around for a few things of interest.

First up, this piece by ESPN entitled "Pat Riley through the years"  Follow the legendary Rupp's Runt, former NBA player and current coaching legend a decade at a time, and marvel at his outstanding achievements.  Riles is truly one of ours, and a Wildcat to be proud of.

Marc Maggard is reporting that Flemings was warned by Gillispie against missing any more class during his visit to Femings home.  Flemings promptly missed his next class the following day and Gillispie withdrew the offer.  Don't know what to make of it, but it sounds plausible to me.

Speaking of Maggard, he just got off the phone with Harrellson and recorded the interview.  You might find it uplifting, so check it out while you're there.  Sounds more promising than Tipton's comments linked below.

Discuss.

Update [2008-4-29 7:17:54 by Truzenzuzex]:  More Tipton on Kecman.  Looks like Tipton's sources are pretty good, but don't be shocked if Kecman picks OSU formally today.

Update [2008-4-29 7:24:47 by Truzenzuzex]:  Pat Riley stepped down as Miami Heat coach yesterday, but remains team president.

Regarding Flemings
The missing class theory makes a whole hell of a lot more sense to me than Flemings choosing Hawaii over UK and saying, "Oh gosh, I just love Hawaii and I think I can make a contribution there". PLEASE!!

If that theory is true, it is quite refreshing to think that the inmates will NOT be running the asylum on BCG's watch.  Follow the rules, or there will be consequences.  Gosh, let that story get out and we may have others with questionable habits who are considering UK just go and commit somewhere else.

The undrafted
all signed with teams today.  Woodyard to Denver and Little to the Titans. Congrats to them as well.  Hopefully they can all go out and make the team!

Harrellson
Just listened to Maggard's podcast.  It certainly seems to me that UK is where Harrellson wants to go, but there are evidently forces at work behind the scenes to keep him close to home (parents?).

He also mentions "personal problems" at home.  I won't even fathom a guess as to what that could be, but it doesn't sound good.

Having only played basketball for 5 years makes me think his upside is very, very high.  I hope he comes and gives Patterson the "support" he mentions in his interview.

My opinion
I just listened to the harrelson podcast and it souds like to me that his mind is already made up but that maybe he is trying to sell his parents on the idea, but it sounds like it is UKs to lose at this point.
