Your Louisville-Centric Post of the Month

Since Tru loves his hometown Cardinals just slightly less than the Wildcats*, I thought I'd throw out a few tidbits concerning our beloved rivals:

I steal all my Louisville news from the most excellent Card Chronicle; I recommend the same to you, good readers.

Finally, a point of discussion for you Wildcat faithful. From all accounts, the new Barnstorming Event is going along swimmingly. From what little I've gathered, Louisville doesn't offer the same kind of fare-the-well tour for its basketball seniors. Which is kinda sad; who wouldn't want to boo David Padgett one last time, for old times sake?

Would it be too much to ask to try and schedule a Barnstorming event that included the UL players? You could have it held in Louisville, and have the old foes battle back and forth for a half. Then bring in the regional all-stars and combine the UK and UL teams. (Now that's a scary thought, huh?)

And why limit it to just Louisville players? How about bringing in Courtney Lee and the rest of the great WKU seniors for a stop near Bowling Green? That would make each event unique for the region and promote the state of Kentucky as the state that loves basketball. I think the Barnstorming basketball spotlight is big enough to share with all our in-state players. What do you think? (Share in the comments, of course!)

*This statement is somewhat false. Tru does not love the Cardinals teams, insomuch as he loves Rick Pitino**.

**Tru was lying in this article. He has a full cardboard cutout of Ricky P standing by his bedside. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Point of Fact
I honestly don't remember a time when UK's Barnstorming events shared the spotlight with other in-state schools. Please enlighten me if I've missed previous combinations.

Cardboard of Ricky P?
I am sure it has gone to the garbage dump!

Dream on about a Barnstorming with UL. Will never happen and you know it. UK has done this for many years, and as Matt said...it had kind of lost it's flavor or whatever...enthusiasm I suppose! Kudos to Matt and Perry and "Woo" for bringing it back because the KY fans love it!  I know my kids did many years ago.

Those little things at the bottom...dang one can hardly read them.
Were you trying to incite BBN? LOL...or Tru? with your first paragraph?

Just joking, of course!
I thought it was pretty obvious that I'm joking when it comes to Tru's "love" for Pitino. There's no ill-will implied or intended.

Also, no ill will implied by my Barnstorming "food for thought". That's all it is. Although I do believe the Barnstorming event is not an "official" UK event, and doesn't have an explicit agenda other than getting the UK Seniors out to meet the fans and make some bucks from autographs.

NO
Let Louisville start have their own barnstorming tour.

Point of the Barnstorming
Is to promote the University of Kentucky as an institution... not necessarily the University of Kentucky players.  To combine with any other university in any way would be counter-productive.  That's just my $.02.

Your idea is intriguing and would be a great thing for a non-interested third party to attempt to assemble.

Actually ...
the Louisville fans that rub me the wrong way are pretty few.  All schools have obnoxious fans, and both UK and Louisville have their share.

A rivalry isn't a rivalry without obnoxious fans on both sides, I suppose.  I live in Louisville, so I know plenty of Cardinal fans. I get along fine with all the ones I actually know, and 95% of the ones I don't.  The ones that are truly obnoxious tend to be kids or those who vent their spleen on the Internet.

Congrats on the baseball victory, by the way.  I was hoping for a season sweep, but alas, was denied.

Hey ...
I don't hate Traitor Rick.  I like him fine, great guy.  Just want him to lose every game he plays.

Is that wrong?

:-)

Not A Traitor, Just A Rival
He showed at Mr. Keightley's memorila service that he knows what he missed by leaving UK.

He's not a real ...
traitor, of course, just a rival coach, and only that as long as he is at Louisville.  I use the word purely as a play on "Trader Rick," a name commonly used for shops peddling souvenirs or cocktails in tropical locations.

He has many times expressed regret for leaving Kentucky.  As I once said, even if he wrote it down every day in his own blood, I would never get tired of hearing it.
