Another day, another in-your-eye for the Cardinals
I have noticed that Louisville Cardinal fans have been juuuussst a bit testy lately.
Just a perusal of the message boards and blogs for the Cardinal Nation seem to be filled with more than the usual anti-UK rhetoric and smack talk. A genuine war of words has broken out over at the Courier-Journal Cats and Cards blogs, and I have received reports of very rude behavior here and there. Seems like our brothers in red just don't have a lot to be happy about right now, although I myself wonder why. They just had a great run in the NCAA tournament, losing in the final 8 to probably the best team in the tournament in a virtual home game for which they have every reason to be proud. Maybe it's still the fact that they missed a bowl in Football this year when they were expected to contend for the championship. Who knows?
Well, now Louisville fans have something more to fume about. UK got it's way in the Governor's Cup game, and it will be played on Sunday, not Monday as Louisville wanted. I myself thought that Barnharts self-styled "rationale" for this decision was pretty much as lame as a 3-legged horse, but your mileage may vary on that. Frankly, I'd have been just as pleased if Kentucky lost that argument.
And if that isn't enough, there is talk that Rick Pitino may be seriously considering the Indiana job. Heh. Well, at least I can honestly say that I know exactly how Cardinal fans must feel at this news, seems like it happened every year when Traitor Rick was at Kentucky. It's just in it's infancy, but if I were you, I would avoid comments on the Cardinal sites right now. They seem a bit less than totally tickled, and you have to wonder if maybe they have a reason to be.
Update [2008-4-1 17:17:32 by Truzenzuzex]: I see that I have been "April Fooled" on the Pitino link. Well, I'll leave it as it is as a warning to people like me who fail to read the whole post. Good one, Mike. I just hope it isn't one of those jokes that comes true.
Update [2008-4-1 18:14:33 by Truzenzuzex]: ESPN is reporting that IU is close to a deal with Tom Crean of Marquette.

I am sure....
Well ...
Maybe that joke is a bit too soon, though.
Wouldn't it be droll if it turned out ...
Hopson to Vols?
This April Fools Day crap is driving me crazy. Don't know if this is for real or not, though it looks legit:

Wouldn't be a shock I guess, they were supposedly the leader, but Gillispie was supposed to visit with him soon, I believe. Whether this is true or not...wow, what a lousy day this has been.

I'd wait ...
But they do seem pretty sure.
I wouldn't be at all surprised, or even very disappointed, really. I didn't expect him to come to Kentucky. He isn't really from here, and I doubt he grew up a UK fan.
If it is true, he'll just have to get used to losing to UK, just like Lofton.
If there's a joke about Hopson,
I'm leaning toward it being truth. But even if it isn't a joke, Signing Day isn't here yet. Ya never know.

Oh ...
But I think not. Hopson has said himself that he has committed to UT, and I believe him.
Score one for Big Blue...
Good luck to Travis and his Minutemen in the NIT Finals.
Crean to IU
It'll be great busting his arse every year.
UK owes him....big time.
Cards fan
About the football - it was my impression that the home team decided date/time - is this wrong or does the visiting team have a vote or something?
To answer ...
Frankly, I could give a crap what day they play. I thought Barnhart's explanation was BS then, still do now. But he apparently got his way.
I understand being sad about seeing seniors go. We have our own regrets on that score.
This has been a tough day all around. Too much loss and sadness. Tomorrow will hopefully be better.
