New Blog: Backing the Pack for NC State Fans!

OPEN SHOT: Midday Media Blitz

I strongly encourage all readers to take the time to peruse Tru's outstanding breakdowns of what to expect on offense and on defense from new coach Billy Gillispie.

Continuing our thrust, it's better, more thoughtful and more in-depth Kentucky hoops commentary than you'll find anywhere else on the web.

To wit, a few examples from the mainstream media.

Luke Winn shows Kentucky some love in his Five Winners, Five Losers column.

Andy Katz, perhaps tiring of the non-stop inference that he "hates" the Wildcats, slots Kentucky into his top 25 after the Draft drop-outs were announced.

SALES ALERT: Look, we may not always break "inside" recruiting news -- honestly, how much of that stuff pans out for all the flipping and flopping? -- but there's a reason our base of readers includes the Decourceys, Hoop Weisses and Jay Bilasas of the world.

Sure, I'm biased...I built the dang place. But I have maintained from Day 1 that this is the place for Kentucky hoops commentary.

Tru's latest only further illustrates the point.

Thanks for continuing to read and help us grow our vision.

Recruiting
I dont think you all have to stay on top of the recruiting news to be a great place for Kentucky commentary. KSR is where I go to get the latest breaking news. Aseaofblue is where I go to ponder the effects of said events on the big blue nation.

I think its good to be as on top of the news as you can but I primarily come to your site for commentary and analyzation. I think there is a difference in your function from sites such as KSR (which is great) and I think that ASOB fills a niche not found elswhere in the BBN. It's a quality site. Keep up the good work.

i agree
this is where i come for analysis and discussion. what other side can you go to where there's a long  discussion on the ethics of breaking a NLOI? i always come here first and then KSR because i want to see if their new posts or any new comments...i read all the comments on every post and diary here. i read a handful over at KSR since they're mostly people saying "1st" or attacking each other.

Great site
Those guys do a lot of good work.

The "first" thing is absolutely irritating as hell. It might have been funny the first, oh, 40 times?

no question
i love KSR...there all the time. the only site i go to more often is here, and it's because i get just as much out of the comments as i do the posts.

typo
"i want to see if their new posts" should be "i want to see if there are new posts" here at ASoB.

bracketology
also went from projected 9-16 seed (or in some cases not making the dance) to #3 seed rising in Lunardi's latest tournament prognostication.

KSR
KSR does great work but my comment was meant to illustrate the different focuses of ASOB and KSR. Sorry if you post got hijacked with a bunch of KSR praise. Yall do great work here at ASOB.

The first thing is annoying but I have to admit that one time I got the opportunity and totally took it.

I recognize JL over at KSR but does anyone else use the same scree name there. It would be nice to notice other ASOB posters over there. I feel it would make their comments section a little more bearable because sometimes it just gets juvenile. I go by DEEETROIT BASKETBALLL!!! at KSR but occasionaly it gets hijacked if you see someone posting somthing offensive.

that's the other annoying thing
i hate it when people start taking other people's names and start saying stupid stuff...you can tell right away and it just isn't funny.

on KSR, i'm ChicagoCatFan, but i don't really comment much there.

Great site
I agree with davw and UKWCF -  this is the place I go to for "news and views" but mostly for "views".  For me, having "breaking news" is very low on the scale of important things for a blog to do.  I much prefer insightful commentary - which ASoB excels at.
Looking for a rock to wind a piece of string around.

I agree
I actually remember coming to this site a long time ago when I saw that DailyKos was running a sports blog sideproject.  I came here, though never commented, with JL still typing away to what was at the time a nonexistent audience.

Now the site has grown tremendously, and the quality of work has always been excellent.  As other commentators have noted, this site, while light on the rumor mongering, is heavy on the analysis.

site work
This site is a quality place to keep up with what is important to the BBN. Thanks to all ...the site contributors and the commentators...all add to my knowledge of Ky Basketball. I appreciate that very much.

I agree with all this
Not to echo everyone, but it never hurts to hear from readers.

I enjoy the site immensely.

I never used to give a flip about recruiting news or UK banter (until the season, anyway), but ASOB has turned me into a full-fledged Big Blue Addict.

New recruit?
Do we have a potential point guard for the recruiting class of 2026? Any kid named after Rex Chapman would have to be a candidate to wear the Blue and White. Congrats to JL Blue and wife on the birth of your son.

Read your site almost daily
I visit ASoB almost daily.  I agree with previous posts - I like reading yall's thoughts on the news at hand.  That's why I started blogging myself!  You guys are an inspiration!
