Florida Lures Away an Important UK Coach

Well, the big, bad news of the day is that Scott Holsopple, the strength and conditioning coach we have all enjoyed having and who's hard work has really changed the bodies of our basketball players,  has apparently decided to leave UK and accept the same position for the Florida football team.

I am truly disappointed by this news, and it could not have come at a worse time.  This is the beginning of the period every year when strength and conditioning coaches can begin to work their magic on our players, and heaven knows many of our players need strength training badly.

Good luck to Scott in his new position.  Congratulations, Gators, you guys are getting a great new asset for your football team.  Until I know more about the circumstances of his departure, I'll resist giving grief to the athletic department for not trying harder to keep him.  I can't see it as a step up, though, and if it was, perhaps our emphasis isn't where it aught to be.

Scott Holsopple
I was hoping we could keep him, but it was only a matter of time before others started calling. He's very good at what he does...Florida FB wanted the best.

Florida
Better that he left for Florida Fb and not Florida Bb!

Holsopple
I don't understand how this guy is so important. You said yourself " heaven knows many of our players need strength training badly". Let him go. The team last year and the year befor was in the poorest condition of any Kentucky team I've seen dressed in UK Blue in longer than I can remember. That guy collected his paycheck, and the one to replace him will also.

Last year's team ...
was in great shape.  Holsopple had a big hand in that.

I was referring to the incoming athletes and the young guys who have only been there one year.

Last year
If last years team was in such great shape, how come they couldn't finish. Meeks was the only one who looked like he could run for fourty minutes. While Randolph Morris looked like he could star in a Cheech and Chong movie. I'm supprised he didn't sign with the Blazers. Not trying to knock on the coach as much as it may seem. Until he puts on the uniform...

Morris
Morris was a beast last year compared to his first two years. Holsopple was the BIGGEST reason for this. Without the one year spent with Holsopple, Morris would not be in the NBA right now.

Last year
You're wrong. Last year's team was the best conditioned since 2003. That they couldn't finish had much more to do with skills/talent than conditioning.

Meeks, Bradley, Crawford, Morris and even Sheray all looked noticeably stronger/buffer.
