2019 power forward Armando Bacot (ranked as 26th overall, 7th power forward by 247Sports) discussed his recruitment at length with D1vision.com recently.
While many believe Duke to be the early favorite, the Virginia native noted that he is currently interested in at least eight other schools...including Kentucky.
Bacot spoke at length about his relationships with coaches from Kansas, Oklahoma State, VCU, Villanova, UCLA, and Virginia Tech. He has offers from all of those schools (and 30 others), and many believe they would all make his short list if he cuts it down soon. But does he plan to do that?
“I have been putting thought into it but I’m not sure,” Bacot told D1vision.com. “I was thinking about it but I’m not completely sure if I’m ready to do that yet.”

Why would he wait to cut the list if he is so interested in these programs? Apparently there are other schools he wants to impress first in hopes of landing an offer. And while no visits are currently on Bacot’s schedule, he does have a few destinations in mind.
“I want to plan a visit to go visit Louisville and Kentucky. I want to go to Oklahoma State too,” he said.
Just because he does not currently have an offer from Coach Calipari does not mean he will not receive one. Kentucky currently has no offers out for the 2019 class, and Cal is still honing down the 2018 group.
Once next year’s class begins to take shape, and Calipari knows more about what paint presence might be on the 2018-2019 roster, expect Kentucky to at least take a hard look at the young big man.
The good news is that Bacot is publicly expressing interest even without an offer. So if Coach Cal decides he wants to heavily recruit him and gets in his ear, I really like Kentucky’s chances.
