Grizzlies back-up PG - Harrison's to lose?

After hearing almost nothing on Andrew Harrison over the past year and being totally perplexed that he did not get a call up when the injury bug bit the Grizz, it now appears Andrew is poised to have his shot in the NBA. It looks like he and Wade Baldwin will share back up duties. Ron Tillery, the Grizz beat writer for the Commercial Appeal, has written a number of articles in the past few days.

In Fizdale’s early challenge is sorting out backup point guard spot, he compares Harrison and Baldwin and then says:

Harrison's instincts would probably give him the backup job to lose.

There is some good discussion of both so it is a good read.

Finding a backup PG seems to have been a focus - Viva Las Grizzlies: Three things we've learned from NBA summer league

Yesterday, the Grizz waived Tony Wroten and Jordan Adams (the 2014 1st round pick) is a guard that appears out for the season (one of 3 things learned - see article above) so it looks like these two are going to be on the opening day roster. With Mike Conley having another 4-5 years, it could be a great opportunity for Andrew to build on his great year in the D League last year and earn a starting job - either in Memphis once Conley retires or for another team. Also, the new coach, David Fizdale is a former PG (I think) so that should help Harrison as well.

I was not a big critic of Andrew when at UK but I was not a big fan either. Suddenly, he has become the former UK player I am pulling for most the most this season!
