It looks like John Calipari may be close to landing his second commitment of the 2016 class. With big man Sacha Killeya-Jones already on board, there are still a number of elite recruits in the mix for the Kentucky Wildcats. One of those is five star combo guard Kobi Simmons.
Simmons is a natural point guard, but John Calipari has offered two more point guards in the class, De'Aaron Fox and Dennis Smith, Jr. Even so, Calipari is still recruiting Simmons hard according to his father.
...several reports have indicated that Calipari has cooled on Simmons.
Not so, says his father.
"It’s just funny to me that people think that," said Demond Stephens. "Cal talks to me. Kenny (Payne) talks to me. We talk every day."
Kentucky, UNLV, Georgia, and Ohio State have made the final cut for Simmons and he hopes to take visits to all of those schools, but Kentucky will be the first visit for him:

How does he stack up according to the ranking services?
24/7: #15 overall, #3 point guard
ESPN: #18 overall, #4 point guard
Scout: #18 overall, #6 point guard
This will be interesting to watch going forward. The 2016 class is loaded with extremely talented guards. I am sure they will be paying attention to how Tyler Ulis, Isaiah Briscoe, and Jamal Murray work together this season.
Simmons plans on making his decision as early as next month.
Here is a little mix tape action:
