You may remember Marcus Walker, the nation’s #16 safety recruit from Lake Wales Florida? You might also remember that he decommitted from Kentucky a few months ago, and many saw him heading to UCF. During that entire time, however, Walker consistently said he was not completely backing away from the Wildcats, and could see himself recommitting to them.
Just a few minutes ago, this came across Twitter:
I'm officially committed to kentucky
— NoFlyZone4 (@Prim3timejr4) July 18, 2014
What was now is again. Walker has decided to cast his lot with the Wildcats, and I think most observers of Kentucky recruiting aren’t really all that surprised — well, maybe a little — it’s pretty rare that a player that decommits from a school ever recommits to them, but it does happen about 20% of the time.
So this is very good news, and of course, we should expect to hear more commitments around the Friday Night Big Blue Lights event that Hank blogged about earlier today. There are a lot of players we need to move along in the recruiting process, and 2015 is widely thought to be the year that Kentucky once again becomes competitive in the SEC.
So welcome back, Marcus, and how ‘bout a big ol’ “Yahtzee!”, even if it’s the second one.
