Welcome to the 4th game of the Big Blue Bahamas Tour. Today, the Kentucky Wildcats will face their biggest challenge yet in the Dominican Republic National Team coached by former UK assistant coach and new South Florida Bulls head coach, Orlando Antigua.
Opponent: Dominican Republic National Team
Location: Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium, Bahamas
Radio: UK/IMG Radio
TV: SEC Network
Streaming: ESPN3?
As you might know, the Dominicans are a much better team than either of the squads UK has played so far. Karl-Anthony Towns Jr. was on that team last year, and he wasn’t exactly the best player there. Consider some of these names:
- Edgar Sosa — former Louisville point guard.
- Francisco Garcia — Houston Rockets small forward and former Louisville star.
- Eloy Vargas — former Kentucky player.
- Orlando Sanchez — former St. Johns player
- Eulis Baez — Western Illinois
In other words, this is potentially a very good team and should be as good or better than Kentucky on paper. We’ll see if that’s true or not. Note that I can’t confirm if any of those above will be there. Al Horford, formerly of the Florida Gators, and Charlie Villanueva, formerly of Connecticut, have usually been invited, although I’m doubtful either of them will be here.
Anyway, this should provide us with the best idea yet of just how good this Kentucky team can be. Enjoy the game, there will be a postmortem afterward as always.
Go, ‘Cats!
