Andy Lyons

News and commentary from around the Big Blue Internet. Kentucky softball takes on Mississippi St. tomorrow in the SEC Tournament. Men's golf selected to Raleigh regional. Randall Cobb talks Mark Stoops and UK football. More.

Last night the Washington Wizards surprised most NBA watchers and took game 1 from the favored Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis. John Wall and Bradley Beal are becoming the new NBA Dynamic Duo.

Tweet of the Morning

More than compensates, I'd say.

Your Quickies:

  • With no May or June live evaluation periods, John Calipari is giving himself two months to recover from his hip replacement. There will be a three week July evaluation period this season. Hopefully, he'll be able to get around some by then.

  • New video of 6'2" leaper Seventh Woods. Man, that kid can fly. His vertical must be David Thompson-esque. Hat tip: NextCats

  • Missed this Courier-Journal piece on Karl-Anthony Towns Jr. Lots of praise from elite talent evaluators. Hat tip: NextCats

  • C.L. Brown at ESPN has this to say about Andrew Harrison:

He ranked 241st in assist-turnover ratio last season. He’s not what you would call a pure point guard. But Kentucky doesn’t reach the final game if not for Harrison’s development down the stretch of the season. When he looks to distribute more than he looks for his own shot, the Wildcats are a different team. No one can question his toughness. Harrison endured much criticism last season but didn’t wilt under the pressure. By deciding to put off the NBA and return for his sophomore season, Harrison could again have Kentucky playing for a national title.
