Please help fulfill a life long dream. My wonderful mother was born up on a hallow in Elkhorn City in 1938. She has been a life long UK Wildcat fan. She was married to my father in 1959 and they had a son (my oldest brother) at Fort Knox who ended up with the nickname of Butch. My father was in the Army and served 3 tours in Vietnam. In 1975 we we transferred to Ft. Richardson in Anchorage, AK where Butch was injured in a trampoline accident in 1978. Butch was paralyzed from the neck down when he was 17 years old. He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair until he passed away from cancer on Monday, August 12, 2013. My mother and father were his primary care givers until my father passed in 2008. Since then my mother has been his primary care give almost exclusively. At 75 years old I don't know how she has continued to do it. She did not leave my brothers side for more than 1 day in a row for 35 years. No matter how much she ached or how sick she was, she always took care of my brother. I helped as much as possible but my mother never let you do much. She always said that it was her burden alone now.
Butch was an avid sports fan and loved UK basketball. He always dreamed of going to a game but the logistics were just to challenging given his condition. One thing that he always hoped was that if he were to die first, my mom could attend a regular season game at Rupp.
I always tried to figure out how to get my mother to a game even when my brother was alive but she just wouldn't think of leaving him alone. Now that he has passed, I need to get my mom to a game at Rupp somehow.
I imagine getting tickets to a regular season game at Rupp are nearly impossible without paying a fortune. If anyone who reads this has access to tickets and would be willing to offer them at an affordable price God would look down on you with the greatest of compassion as my mother is one of the most selfless and giving people who has ever been on this earth. Please let me know if you can help fulfill this wish in honor of my dear brother who was an amazing inspiration to anyone who knew him. However, my mother is also truly amazing and I pray she will get to attend a game to see her beloved Wildcats play in person.
God bless my brother, my mother and BBN!
