Steve Melininger, who played for Kentucky from 1951 to 1953, hhas been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. I listened to an interview with him, and he was very surprised and grateful.

If ‘mom’ had her say, Andrew Wiggins would play basketball at Louisville.
Okay, if you’re all crestfallen right now, relax. That’s not Wiggins’ real mom, but his "host" mom in West Virginia (via Hank).

I was asked the other day who my national high-school MVP was, and Dakari Johnson was my response. Here’s whyy (via Hank).

Jason Jordan of USA Today says his pick for HS MVP was Julius Randle. As I said, I think Dakari Johnson was the pick, mainly because rather than trying to prove he could do it all, he focused on two of the biggest things that make teams better – post presence and rebounding. Hat tip: KSR.

Andrew Wiggins is "… ready to get the decision over with." So get on with it, already. Hat tip: Aaron’s blog.

Whoa! $$3.4 million is a lot of money to spend on a bowl game. Over half went to bonuses for the coaching stff, but meals and lodging alone were almost $1 million.

Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops not impressed with the bottom half of the SEC. Yeah, Bob, but that top half is probably better than the whole Big 12.

Is anyone surprised to find Western on the Fulmer Cup Big Board since Petrino took the job? Here we go:
WESTERN KENTUCKY. Never tamper with the evidence. Why? Because tampering with the evidence in what would have been a minor traffic stop gets you a damn felony charge, that’s why. This explains why WKU football and basketball player Kene Anyigbo gets five points for a felony tampering charge to go with a failure to use headlights and minor weed possession charge. (Even money on "attempted to eat marijuana or throw out window.")

You’ve probably heard about Trae Golden leaving Tennessee. It’s likely to negatively affect their APR, if the academic story is true, but it also really hurts their team, he was a very good player.
-
CBS, Turner Sports will split coverage of the Final Four. Whatever, I don’t get this from CBS’ perspective, but it’s fine, I guess. All those who don’t get Turner sports, complain here.

This is a very good column by Eammon Brenan at ESPN about the need to centralize control over the NCAA’s officials, and make them more professional. Greg has already written something similar, and I agree with both of them that this is a badly-needed change.
