Dear Mr. Wiggins,
I know the time is coming very soon for you to make a decision about which school you will attend and play basketball. I also know this must be a very hard decision to make because of the caliber of the schools recruiting you (except for dook). I'm sure you've had a lot of people telling you who they think you should chose, but it has to be your decision. I'm a fan of my school and I hope you chose us, but you have to be happy in the choice you make. With just a few more days left, I just hope to give you a few (more) things to consider as you make your choice.
If you don't want a chance to play on one of the greatest assembled basketball classes in the history of college basketball, don't come here. If you don't believe that practicing day after day with other players that would automatically start on any other team will make you better, please cross us off your list. If you don't want to be able to say you EARNED your spot on the most talented team in the country instead of having it handed to you, pass on us. If you can't see yourself as part of a team that just might have a chance to go undefeated in college basketball, leave us alone. If you are not ready to work just as hard on court as in the classroom, please pick another school. If you can't or don't want to rebound, dive on the floor for loose balls, work like never before, be your brothers' keeper, and show up everyday with your lunch pail to in hand read to go to work, please stay away. If you find that you can neither lead nor follow, that you are a spotlight ranger (look it up), then I beg of you, don't come here.
However, if you find that you don't mind sharing the ball and sharing the glory, come on down. If you WANT to be part of what could be one of the best TEAMS ever in the history of college basketball, please join our ranks. If you want to be cheered on by the absolute BEST fan base in all the world of sport, our doors are open to you. If you want to hear people cheering you on, from their hearts, day in and day out, win lose or draw, then we are ready to welcome you with open arms. If you want to be part of something that could last forever, come be a legend at the University of Kentucky.
This is, of course, from a fans perspective but I thought it might offer you some good information. Our numbers are vast, Mr. Wiggins, vast. We are not counted by the handful, the bushel full, or even the basket full. We don't number in the tens, hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands. We are millions strong, we are everywhere and we are waiting here to cheer you on through good times and bad. We will support you, we will defend you and we will cheer for you if you give us your very best every single day. When you move on from here, you will not be forgotten by a grateful fan base who will tell stories about watching you soar. You could become a in legend of college basketball and a hero to the very loud and very proud BIG BLUE NATION. All you have to do is say yes.
