Kentucky Wildcats: Afternoon Quickies - Memorial Day Edition

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

It's Memorial Day, and summer is about to kick off.

Happy Memorial Day, Big Blue Nation and friends. May it be blessed with family, fun, and reflection.

Tweet of the Morning:

Maybe we'll wind up getting him after all?

Your Quickies:

Kentucky football
Kentucky basketball
  • Cliff Alexander is widely considered to be down to three teams; Illinois, Kentucky and Michigan St. I like our chances, but you can't discount Tom Izzo on the recruiting trail. I'm not sold that John Groce can compete with Calipari on the recruiting trail. Hat tip: Aaron's blog
Other UK sports
  • Softball just misses the Women's College World Series, losing to Arizona St. on Sunday.

This was a truly excellent season for Kentucky, and even though the Wildcats didn't quite set a new standard for NCAA Tournament success, they did set a new school record for wins, and hosted a regional for the first time. Congratulations to the softball team on an outstanding season.
